ECM Technologies possesses the capabilities to commercialize a variety of biotechnology products. ECMT’s technology is based on scientific discoveries from the study of microorganisms. These discoveries have resulted in Designer Collagen, our platform technology.

Designer Collagens are proteins that are produced by a well-established prokaryotic expression system (bacterial derived). This method is inexpensive and does not require animal facilities. The materials can be genetically customized to exhibit desired features for particular applications of interest.

ECMT envisions its first product candidates as modifications to existing products, such as a surgical mesh coating (hernia repair, adhesion prevention). Second generation products will focus on vascular coating for devices such as grafts, stents, and patches.

Dr. Magnus Höök
Dr. Höök is a Neva and Wesley West Professor, Regents Professor, and Director of the Center for Infectious and Inflammatory Diseases (formerly the Center for Extracellular Matrix Biology), Institute of Bioscience and Technology, Texas A&M University System Health Science Center. He earned a B.S. in Biochemistry and Ph.D. in Medical Chemistry at the University of Uppsala, Sweden. He has studied the biology of the extracellular matrix over 30 years using a combination of structural, biochemical, molecular and cell biological, immunological and genetic approaches.
